A great drummer – a fun clip – I remember watching this a kid and wanting to play like Buddy. Of course few do.
He is the first of many influences, along with Alan Dawson, Jim Chapin (and his Moeller technique), Joe Morello, Dino Dinelli, Richie Hayward, and probably Jeff Porcaro. I tell my students, it takes 20 years to steal enough to find a your own style.
When I was a high school sophomore we actually had an after school field trip to New Jersey to appear as teenagers on Zacherley’s Disco Teen hosted by the titular horror host. I always admired the gusto of his dreadful schtick, plus he asked me on the air (live) to speak to his ‘wife’ in her coffin (dead). We danced, we cheered, we went back to Connecticut. Here in his honor is the rare “Dinner with Zach” a significant non-hit for the Legendary horror Meister. I can’t guarantee you’ll love it.
We need more great anti war art and music – except there are few commercial stations allowed to play it (what country IS this again?).
So with that in mind here’s an offering by the The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band
You will love this song. Too long lost
What If They Gave a War and Nobody Came?
