Aqua Teen

It’s been about a year since Boston and Somerville went ballistic over a marketing ploy that turned into a ‘homeland security’ moment

The Aqua Teen Moment

It’s understandable that the city that had planes fly from their airport into the towers, and that homes MIT and Harvard, might overreact given the atmosphere of fear and distrust created by this administration. But it’s irresponsible for officials such as Boston Mayor Menino to leap to a self righteous assertions, like calling the artists who were contracted to do this publicity – “anarchists”. In Boston that always associates Sacco and Vanzetti. That’s a bit overboard.
To wit: “The individuals who placed these packages should be warned that there is a heavy penalty — two to five years imprisonment for each one of them. We are not playing around”.

Somerville Mayor Curtatone even used the incident to puff up and show his toughness. Here’s the article from the the local paper local paper the Somerville Journal.

Seeing Berdovsky and Stevens in leg irons at their hearings was less than amusing. All is resolved now, Turner and Warners paid their fine. Berdovsky had to do community service, but it was really cool and art based. Both they continue their work as artists
