ROBIN LANE AND THE CHARTBUSTERS “WHEN THINGS GO WRONG”

This video was on MTV during the first hour of broadcast. We were on Warners Bros. records and they send these two guys down from LA – as in Hollywood – to shoot a “music video” of our then popular ‘hit’. They liked the ocean around here so put us in little sailor scenes. Really cute and romantic, but not MTV – ish. Oh well, one of many mistakes we made. Who knew? The ship is the Boston Tea Party ship.

This one is great because it is live from the Rat in Boston around what must be 1979 or ‘80. We look so young but didn’t think we we were even then. But I do think this live recording rocks in great worthiness. A great archive clip from what is now a legendary club. At the time it was just one more crazy place to play, and I could have played in 4 bands in a single night there by the mid 80’s. THE YOUNG RATIONALS “EVIDENCE”

The Young Rationals with the equipment and expertise of Steve Stone produced a few fairly goofy videos for the 1980’s . This one I directed and we all acted in it, with the added talent of Buzz Laughlin and the fabulous ‘Jeanette’ (where are you now?) This was deemed too violent for the local music video channel at the time V-66 – which is ridiculous. It’s comic noir and brilliant and rare performance by singer songwriter Stone (a man of many talents)
